Underwater manned submersibles MIR

The fleet of Oceanology Institute currently five manned submersibles - two types of "World" with a diving depth of 6 km, two types of "Pisces-class deep submergence vehicle" that can descend to 2 km, and the unit "Argus" to operate at depths up to 600 m. Deep-sea manned submersibles (GOA), "Mir-1" and "Mir-2" have been built in Finland at the company "Rauma-Repola" in 1987. Devices created for scientific and technical guidance of scientists and engineers PP Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of Russian Academy of Sciences. Creating apparatus was started in May 1985, and ended in November 1987 year. In December 1987, deep-sea testing devices have been carried out in the Atlantic at a depth of 6170m ( "MIR-1") and 6120m ( "MIR-2"). Devices fitted to the vessel to ensure "Akademik Mstislav Keldysh", built in 1981 in Finland and converted for operations in 1987 with the "Mir". A 35 expedition in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans with GOA "Mir-1" and "Mir-2", and 16 expeditions with GOA "Pisces-class deep submergence vehicle VII of" and "Pisces-class deep submergence vehicle XI».
